Katarina Matic joins independent agency Akkomplice in the position of art director

Off the back of a successful 2020 of business growth, independent creative agency Akkomplice has appointed rising star Katarina Matic (right) as art director.

Says Sara Oteri (left), ECD, Akkomplice: “It’s an exciting time at Akkomplice and having Kat bring her unique flare and perspective to our client base is a wonderful addition. She’s a deep thinker with a real drive to make work that positively impacts our world, something I’m always looking for in any new team member.”

Matic, winner of MADC’s Rising Star award in 2018, joins Akkomplice from CHE Proximity after launching her career at Leo Burnett Melbourne. Matic was also awarded Idea of the year and best in film (Charity/PSA category) for her work in support of Australian Marriage Equality.

There’s a strong focus on female firepower at Akkomplice, with Oteri in the ECD seat.

Says Oteri: “Learning on the job I was fortunate to have some brilliant male mentors, but it was rare to meet another female creative – let alone a senior one. What we’re doing at Akkomplice is hands on, it’s extremely immersive and everyone has their role to play. It’s environments like this that breeds future creative directors and heads of account service.”

Matic is the latest addition to Akkomplice team (with thanks to recruitment legend Esther Clerehan) as the agency continues on a consistent growth trajectory since its founding seven years ago in Melbourne.

Says Kenny Hill, founder, Akkomplice: “We pride ourselves on diversity of thought and lateral solutions at Akkomplice and Kat brings that in spades. She’s already had a great impact with terrific work across Pringles, Daimler and Darrell Lea.”
