eBay launches series of spots for its eBay Big Sundays initiative via Havas Worldwide Sydney
eBay Australia has launched its latest campaign via Havas Worldwide Sydney, promoting eBay Big Sundays – an initiative that turns eBay’s busiest shopping day of the week into a bigger deal.
The campaign’s TVCs, directed by Robber’s Dog’s Luke Shanahan, show Australians mischievously clearing their Sunday schedule in order to take advantage of the great offers on eBay Big Sundays.
The festivities include a series of 5 minute quick-fire auctions between their peak hour of 8-9pm and is backed by online and outdoor media placement.
The campaign is part of eBay’s commitment to remain Australia’s largest online shopping destination for big brands as well as millions of unique and hard to find items.
Says Alex Carr, managing director, Havas Worldwide Sydney: “The idea of owning Sundays, principally Sunday evenings when other traditional retailers have packed up, is absurdly simple and differentiating. We have loved working with the team at eBay to create a suite of communications and retail offers that brings fun and a lightness to what is invariably a staid world of retail communication.”

Gold. The birthday spot actually has a parent bribing a daughter with a fifty.
hats off for that one and top performance.
Funny awkward stuff. casting is good.
Love em- birthday wins.
Don’t agree. Very average humour. No surprises. Generic and boring. Next!
Great direction – the mother and daughter and brilliant.
.Goats are really in at the moment, just saying.
Cool tone to the spots. casting is fab. Agree that the performance direction lifted the moments sky high from what may have been “okay” ideas on the page.
Love how awkward these are. direction and casting is fab.
Really lifted the material.
I did exactly this ad (not quite as well directed) a few years ago for Cricket Australia.
Guy sings happy birthday to his girlfriend on the day before her birthday, so he can go to the cricket.
It won D&AD, so this should do pretty good swell.
