DISLOCATION at VANDAL featuring street artist CRISP breaks record on R U OK? Day
Internationally recognised street artist, CRISP, last week on RUOK Day debuted his first Australian solo exhibition at VANDAL as part of the 10th Anniversary of Sydney Fringe Festival.
Titled “DISLOCATION”, the exhibition features paintings and sculptural pieces spanning over a decade. The exhibition is a rare chance to view a collection of CRISP’s work in an art gallery, compared to their usual habitat scattered on the walls and pavements of cities across the globe.
Says Emile Rademeyer, executive curator, VANDAL Gallery: “Crisp used the exhibition to pay tribute to his late good friend Sam Gibson. Part of the sales in the exhibition will go toward a memorial mural to be painted in the barrio in Bogotá St Luis, where Sam helped establish a foundation for children and adults to learn and grow despite poverty and neglect.”
Says CRISP: “Sam’s passion, selflessness and humanity to others will always be remembered.”
The exhibition broke records with 12 artworks selling on opening night and 5 more the following day.
“Support a good cause and head down to VANDAL to enjoy incredible, well-priced artworks.”
DISLOCATION is on display until the 18th of October.

Can we keep PR releases about art shows on the art blogs. Just because this was downstairs from an old post house that now specialises in “placemaking” since it ditched the tennis metaphor doesn’t mean it has to go on the ad / production / post blogs.
What’s wrong with you? It’s an industry related event supporting those struggling with mental illness – an issue that touches a lot of people in our industry.
It was a great event for a great cause. Thanks Vandal.
