Dee Gjedsted joins Squeak E. Clean Studios Melbourne as sound designer

Global creative audio network Squeak E. Clean Studios has tapped sound designer Dee Gjedsted to join its Melbourne based studio.

With his background in sound design, music production and voice casting, Gjedsted enjoys the challenge of interpreting briefs and translating creative ideas. He has recently worked for clients Bank of Melbourne, Mercedes, Suzuki, Victoria Racing Club and Lucky Nuts.

Gjedsted brings to his new role extensive experience in sound design and music mixing across advertising and television. His specialist knowledge and diverse training also informs his well-rounded approach to production and collaboration.

He most recently filled the role of sound designer, music producer and TVC-for-cinema mixer at Risk Sound and has worked with studios including DK, Metropolis Audio, Flagstaff Studios and Song Zu. He was the founder of music studio Prolific Music, which he led for five years, working exclusively on music production.

Joining the Squeak E. Clean Studios Melbourne studio, Gjedsted is particularly excited to be part of a progressive audio network he has long admired, and to reunite with close industry collaborators, studio head of sound design Paul Le Couteur and executive producer Ceri Davies.

On his new appointment, Gjedsted says: “To my mind, Squeak E. Clean Studios is the top player in Australia so this presents a big drawcard. Working again with Ceri and Paul, people I love collaborating with, meant I didn’t have to think twice! The quality of work and the way Squeak E. Clean as a business handles itself is something I’ve also always long respected. The work is top shelf and the company is progressive in how it nurtures local talent – whether that is across sound or performance, so that’s another huge attraction.”

Considering his background in music production, Gjedsted is excited to join forces with an audio network housing a bigger picture creative outlook – encompassing advertising but also entertainment, gaming and technology. Add to that a chance to flex his ear with international briefs from the New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Austin studios, he is also eager to establish new collaborations with Squeak E. Clean’s local agency partners and directors.

Gjedsted’s appointment serves to bolster the Melbourne based studio’s ongoing growth.

Says Davies: “I’m so happy to be back working with Dee. He is an exceptional sound designer who truly understands the art of collaboration and the sometimes-wacky journey of production. He loves the experimental side of audio; workshopping new ideas with creatives and he isn’t shy on pushing the creative elements of sound design to expand on the potential of any soundtrack. His skill set, resilience and discipline as a creative person (and as a golfer) is second to none, and we know we’re going to love working with him every day.”
