Cavalry Freelancing closes successful six-figure seed round backed by industry heavyweights

Cavalry Freelancing has successfully closed a six-figure seed funding round to help support continued product development as well as expansion into the SMB (small and midsized business) and APAC markets. The seed round was fully subscribed and is a precursor to its next round, a Series A capital raise in 2020.

Developed specifically for the freelancer needs of agencies and creative services businesses, Cavalry is a freelance marketplace and management system that enables companies to get ahead of their freelance needs and build a freelance team with the best creative services experts in the market. The platform’s network capabilities enable the formation of multi-dimensional relationships based on common areas of expertise or needs.

The Australian-based company has experienced five-fold growth since its inception in 2018 and has earned the financial backing of industry leaders such as Ben Lilley  (centre), previously McCann Australia CEO and chairman, Wayne Arnold, previously co-founding partner and global CEO of MullenLowe Profero and Paul Evans, founding partner of private equity firm Ironbridge Capital.

Says Dave Bentley (right), CEO, Cavalry: “The calibre of investment and the talent we’ve been able to attract in our seed round demonstrates a vote of confidence in the growing importance that a platform like Cavalry has in an industry where freelance demand is growing with agencies and brands. Cavalry represents the future of expertise in creative services by making it possible for any company to connect and do business with the world’s best creatives, designers, thinkers and doers.

“Tapping into the freelance market becomes a sustainable and effective option with a system like Cavalry that makes it easy to access a large pool of curated industry experts and build your ideal team of Freelancers.”

Says Lilley: “Cavalry is the kind of platform I wish I’d known about when I was running McCann. From an investment point of view it’s a no-brainer. Agencies need to be more agile than ever, but historically finding freelancers has been an unreliable and costly headache. Cavalry removes this tension by bringing the creative services freelance community together and making it simple to assemble a team of industry quality experts.”

According to Bentley, Cavalry Freelancing’s features include a marketplace that recommends and connects companies to the best available freelancers for their projects. As well as Intelligent Rosters which help companies build, manage and replenish their freelance team. Plus Open Rosters which give freelancers the chance to find and connect with companies in the community that are trying to build freelance rosters with their skillset.

Calvary Freelancing is based in Australia and offers a community of thousands of curated industry freelancers. It is the fastest growing marketplace in the advertising sector and works with both agencies and marketers who use freelance talent.
