The Bedroom Philosopher enlisted by PR outfit Currie to reach young commuters for Metlink
Melbourne PR outfit Currie Communications has commissioned the Bedroom Philosopher, a Melbourne comedian and avid public transport fan to write a parody of one of his most popular songs, Northcote (so hungover) on behalf of client Metlink.
The song is called Hurtsbridge (so sober) and it contains loads of pop culture references and transport gags. Chalk stencils across stations and universities are being sprayed to promote the song. The song and stencils seek to create buzz around four customer tools that have been designed by Metlink to help commuters save time across all modes of transport. They are the journey planner, the iPhone app, the mobile departure board and downloadable timetables.

Yet again another campaign that ignores the insurmountable problem of the shit product. You can have all the fancy ‘traveller tools’ in the world, but if the train or tram is late, cancelled or filled with passengers resembling sardines in a can like so regularly happens in Melbourne, no-one cares about your fancy app.
Interesting. No doubt this will serve as some sort of entertainment as I wait patiently for the train that my downloaded timetable tells me should be there.
Bread and circuses. What happened to straight up the guts advertising?
and no doubt …. people will still hate metlink!
all you needed was the end frame. I don’t know why you fluffed around with a 2 minute video about fk all.
Not as good as the original track – but I do like it!
im still in high school none of that appealed to me at all
if anything its the older generations who need 4 fucking tools to catch a train for fuck
sake looking at the screen at the platform is enough to know where im going…..
really the only entertainment i received from that was his voice…..
You’re an idiot.
Do your homework.
