AWARD School winner Meg Jenkins joins Queensland agency BCM in copywriter role

Meg Jenkins, national AWARD School finalist and Queensland winner of the recent AWARD School creative program, has joined Queensland independent media and creative agency BCM as copywriter.

Jenkins completed the agency’s “QUT Baptism” internship last year and went on to win a Gold Pencil in the AWARD School program, becoming a national finalist.

Says Phil McDonald, partner and MD, BCM: “Every year we work with our client QUT, to give real, on the job experience to graduating students interested in a career in advertising, and Meg was one of those students last year. We recognised her talent and passion then and her recent success at AWARD came as no surprise to us. She has a great mind and will add huge value to our clients and our agency. We are very excited she has chosen to join us.”

Says Jenkins: “I’m thrilled to be stepping into a role on the creative team at BCM. From day one of Baptism, I’ve always felt extremely supported and encouraged in my ambitions as a budding creative. The creatives here also really rallied behind me during AWARD School; constantly pushing me to think deeper and crazier. So it’s really humbling and exciting to now be working alongside them. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Adds McDonald: “It has become increasingly difficult for young people to enter our industry and our commitment to the “QUT Baptism” program is designed to provide a continued runway for young people to get in and make their mark. I’d recommend the business and creative industries courses at QUT as the best way to begin a career in advertising and I want to thank the great minds that continue to drive AWARD School across Australia, it is a wonderful program.”
