Asheen Naidu’s Cannes Diary #3

Asheen Naidu, executive creative director at BWM Dentsu is representing Australia on the Cannes Industry Craft Lions. Naidu, along with most of the other Australian and NZ jurors writes exclusively for CB.

 

After much healthy debate we wrapped our medal selections around 11pm on Monday night, with some very worthy pieces awarded. What I’m most proud of is the variety of the work awarded. A healthy assortment of print, publishing, packaging, ambient, design and so much more. It felt like craft in all its glorious forms was celebrated. And interestingly, we also gave props to a restraint in craft, where brands stopped themselves from just splashing their logos all over the place and carefully considered the context and environment. A lot of love and effort was put into the work so it was great to see the creators receive their just rewards on stage last night. With judging done, I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the festival attending as many talks and seeing as much of the work as I possibly can. With a few glasses of rose’ mixed in for good measure. Cheers!
