Akkomplice appoints former The Royals senior creative Lee Spencer to creative director role

Coinciding with a move to new premises in South Melbourne after a year of business growth and new hires, Akkomplice has welcomed on board Lee Spencer as creative director.

Says Sara Oteri, executive creative director, Akkomplice “It’s been a big year at Akkomplice. We’ve already added five female powerhouse talents to our team and we’re capping off the year with the brilliant Lee Spencer joining the crew as creative director.”

Spencer joins Akkomplice from The Royals and is a multidisciplinary creative with work under his belt for a diverse range of clients from Jetstar, KFC and Deakin University to MyState Bank, NAB, Mercedes-Benz and Optus. He’s all about big conceptual ideas that work, with a great blend between digital and traditional thinking.

Says Kenny Hill, founder, Akkomplice: “We’re always on the hunt for fresh talent that do more than just ads, as they make for more interesting individuals and bring great new perspectives and approaches to our client’s work.”

Outside the ad world, Spencer’s written and performed live storytelling, published his own zines, made his own music history and travel podcasts. He’s presented and produced radio shows for SYN, interviewed and reviewed bands for Beat Magazine as well as The Music. To cap all that off, he’s just finished directing a short film for release in 2022.

Says Spencer: “Akkomplice punches well above its weight with work that’s bold and beautiful. I’m pumped to be joining the agency as a creative director. My aim is to help the team continue making waves by pushing their creativity further with ideas that get people laughing, crying and thinking. Stay tuned.”
