Curious director Paola Morabito shoots risque ‘Who Am I’ video clip for New York outfit Men

men_B-web.jpgCurious director Paola Morabito – who won a New Director Silver Lotus award at ADFEST last week for ‘The Guide Dog Interviews’ – has directed a video clip, ‘Who Am I’ for New York outfit Men, based on the painting “Wanderer above the Sea Fog” (1818) by Romantic artist Caspar David Fredriech.

The painting shows a man with his back turned to the viewer as he looks into a natural abyss.

In this video clip, co-directed by Técha Noble and Paola Morabito, the male figure is replaced by JD Samson who gets a massive hard-on in the shape of a miniature lighthouse that gradually extends from her crotch.

It finally explodes over the epic cliff-side location as she is overlooking the vast ocean.

“The shoot day was one of the most enjoyable shoot days of my life. I got to scream obscenities all afternoon, loudly and clearly: ‘COCK! ERECT COCK! EJACULATE!'” says Paola.

In a high camp parody with a twist, the clip suggests masculinity can be strapped on and performed, and embodies the politics lyricised in the song, ‘Who am I to feel so free’.

Paola Morabito is an award-winning filmmaker with experience in such diverse roles as costume designing and producing. In 2008, Paola attended the Script Development Programme at the Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam. She is currently in development her own first feature film Explosions Like Stars.

‘The Guide Dog Interviews’ was Paola’s first commercial work, which also led to her being voted a Shots New Director Award finalist in March.
